Questions, bugs and feedback

Write to odabasi.developer@gmail.com and you will hear back within a few days.

To reproduce a problem it helps a lot if you include your device model, your iOS or Android version, and which layers were playing when it happened.

Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. Duskvale has no account, no sign-in and no sync. You open it and use it.

How do the layers work?

There are six families of layers: Rain, Wind, Water, Fire, Night Nature and Resonance. The numbers on a family's row are that family's recordings. Tapping a number starts it; tapping another number in the same family crossfades between the two. Only one recording plays per family at a time, but all six families can be running together.

How do I stop one layer?

Press the Stop button on that family's row. To silence everything at once, use Stop all at the bottom of the list.

Can I set the volume per layer?

Yes, every family has its own slider, and it affects only that family — so you can push the rain forward and hold the fire back.

Sound problems

I tapped a number and hear nothing.

Check these in order:

It plays while my phone is on silent. Is that right?

Yes, and it is deliberate on iOS. Duskvale opens audio in the “playback” category — the same as a music app — and that category ignores the side mute switch. To silence it, turn the volume down or press Stop all.

Can I use it while music is playing in another app?

Yes. Duskvale opens its audio session so it mixes with others, so it will not interrupt what is already playing; the two sit on top of each other.

Does the sound keep playing after I leave the app?

Yes. From version 1.1 the sound keeps playing when you switch to another app or lock the screen. On Android a Duskvale notification shows while sound is playing, and its button stops everything.

How do I keep a mix I like?

Once the mix is set up, tap ☆ Add to favorites at the bottom of the sound panel. The mix joins the Favorites row at the top of the panel; tapping its card brings back the same recordings at the same volumes. To delete it, tap the card's × or long-press it.

Is there a sleep timer?

Not yet. A timer that fades out and stops on its own is one of the most requested things and it is on the plan.

I hear a click when a loop starts over.

You should not: the loop points are pulled in to cut the silence the encoder adds at the start of a file. If you still hear one, tell us which layer it was and we will rework that recording.

Colour and the visualiser

The visualiser screen is empty.

You need to add a colour first. Flip the switch at the top to Color, drag your finger across the wheel to pick one, then press Add. With at least one colour in the list, Visualize has something to draw.

The colours are frozen, nothing moves.

That means “reduce motion” is turned on for your phone. With that setting on, the visualiser deliberately draws a single still frame. To see the motion, turn it off under Settings › Accessibility › Motion on iOS, or Settings › Accessibility on Android.

How many colours can I add?

As many as you like, but the first eight are what get drawn on screen. The same colour is never added twice, and tapping a colour in the list removes it.

My colours were gone after I closed the app.

That is how it works for now: the colour list lives only for that session. Saved palettes are a requested feature — writing in makes the count go up.

Language and appearance

How do I change the app's language?

Tap the gear icon at the top right, then Language. On first launch the app follows your phone's language, falling back to English for languages it does not have. A language you pick by hand is remembered.

Which languages are there?

Turkish, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean and Arabic.

The Arabic interface is not right-to-left.

Correct — the text is Arabic, but the layout is not mirrored yet. Proper RTL support is a separate job and it is on the list.

Is there a light theme?

No. Duskvale was made for the night and ships with a single dark theme.

Ads and privacy

Is there a paid version without ads?

Not at the moment. The app is free and covered by the banner ads above and below the mixer; there are no in-app purchases. The visualiser opens full screen, so you see no ads there.

I want to withdraw my consent for personalised ads.

If you are in a region where Google's consent form is required (in practice the EU), the Settings screen shows an Ad privacy options row that reopens the form whenever you want. The route that works everywhere is your phone's own settings: Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking on iOS, Settings › Google › Ads on Android.

What does the app store about me?

It keeps two things on your phone: the interface language you picked and your favourite mixes. We run no server, so nothing reaches us. What the ads have access to is set out one by one in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

Remove the app from your phone; the language preference and your favourites go with it. There is no account to close and no server record to clear.

Uninstalling the app does not reset your advertising consent — that lives in your phone's ad settings.
